Couples Therapy

Significant life changes, such as bereavement, loss, or transitions like retirement or returning home after time apart, can place immense strain on a relationship. At a time when we might hope to support one another, grief or change can leave us feeling isolated, misunderstood, or emotionally out of sync. Therapy offers a safe and compassionate space to begin navigating this together.

No two couples are the same. Some arrive with a clear goal in mind; others simply know that something isn't working. Together, we explore what's brought you here and what you're hoping to change or rebuild. We move at a pace that feels right for both of you.

I bring structure and therapeutic insight when it's helpful and may introduce tools or exercises to support communication, emotional regulation, or shared understanding. Nothing is ever imposed, the process is shaped around your needs, values, and relationship dynamics. We'll begin by identifying what each of you hopes to gain from the therapy, and I'll guide the sessions with care, neutrality, and respect for both perspectives.

While couples work often benefits from a focused and intentional approach, there's no fixed path or timeline. I check in regularly and welcome your feedback to ensure the work remains balanced, meaningful, and supportive as your needs evolve.

In some cases, it can be helpful for each partner to have an individual session in place of your joint session that week. This creates space to reflect more openly, process your own experience, and gain clarity, often bringing fresh insight back into the shared work. These sessions are offered equally to both partners to ensure consistency, balance, and support for each person within the overall process.
